Unless you fix that to the wall, it will DEFINITELY fall over.

    But it looks awesome.

Why not try angling the 2x2 expedits away from each other slightly, something like this:

Something less than 30 degrees would be good for turntables...

30 degrees was a typo... 30 degrees is no where near wide enough!

Question for all those who have used the Ikea Capita legs: http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/pr...538/#/20054563

These only have the ability to be screwed on ONE end. Does anyone know if I buy twice the number of required legs, if I can mount the screw plate on BOTH ends?

    Plans attached

I already posted this onto the end of my setup thread but as I took 90% of the inspiration from you guys I thought I'd share my homegrown desk!

I started with the Sefour desk (which I already owned) and added the largest LACK shelf Ikea stocked via the shelf's wallmount and some adjustable CAPITA brackets to take the stress off the wall. Being adjustable proved to be a great help as although the shelf was mounted straight, the adjustments meant that variations in carpet/table height were easily accounted for.

However, the standard Sefour desk was about 90cm too short. To counter this, I took a MIKA computer desk (which has the added bonus of leaving the doors off for vinyl storage and some drawers to store cables and connectors in), and mounted a VIKA AMON tabletop on top of some angled CAPITA legs. This bought everything to the same height (+/- a few mm) and extended the tablespace enough for all the kit. The gap in between the MIKA and VIKA also gave me a hide hole for a stereo amp, powered USB hub and router for all my Rekordbox needs. The gap underneath the MIKA also gives me space for record cases, a tower power supply and somewhere to stash my Saxophone!

The finishing touch was some folding hooks for some headphones, and a RGB LED strip for Maplins underneath the shelf to provide some functional lighting. Oh, and some vinyl sleeves!

All in all, the whole build cost about £250 and apart from being completely tailored to my requirements (not available online), I have the satisfaction of knowing it was designed and built from DJTT inspiration and my own fair hands!

Cheers DJTT! (and apologies for the iPhone quality pictures).

They've probably withdrawn it after all the laptops/speakers/CDJ's that have been falling off of shelfs that were screwed into HOLLOW table tops!

    Cool

    Hi All,

I am new to the forum and it was indeed this thread that inspired me to join.

I took a trip to ikea today just to "have a look" with the view to recreate the stand built in the original post.

£300+ later i find myself standing outside of Ikea with my brother and my GTI thinking, "How am i gonna get this lot in here?"

    As it happens, it fit...just

I have gone with the double Expedit bookcase design and have started to create my monster. I will post pictures of the finished product when completed.

I originally joined up just to thank the original poster for the inspiration....well, actually i just flat out copied you if i am honest, but thanks.

I didn't really think i would be able to contribute much to this forum as i am no pro Dj or anything, and whatever i know about DJing, i am sure you guys already know...BUT!! I have been reading through and i may be able to shed some light on one of the previous posters comments about the angled Capita legs not being available online anymore, I came across the same problem, and did look for alternatives whilst in Ikea, but as it turns out, they are still available to pickup in the kitchen department. I dont know why they are not on the website, but i think they were £11 for a pack of 2.

Beware though, you will have to swap the bolt that comes with it to another becuase the supplied bolt is not long enough to go through the Expedit bookcase.

I went and purchased an M10 bolt and matching washers, cut it with a hacksaw down to size and got around it that way.

i hope i have been able to help somebody out there like this thread has helped me.

    Thanks,

    Dj Mattalik.
