its really funny that a lot of people are bashing made in china, a lot of very expensive gadgets are made in china eg iphone, ipad, pio's hehehe

Sorry for suggesting the Behringer controllers to the OP guys. Didn't know I was gonna derail this thread so hard. Some of you dudes have a real hate on for the company. Don't like it, don't buy it. I got a bcd3000 and love the shit outta that little guy. Been using it pretty hard for a year and a half.......can't all be that bad.

hate is a very strong word, id rather choose the words dissapointed and cheated coz they left us 1st generation bcd users with a lemon hehehe

i had a 1st gen bcd. They did update the driver IIRC.

Behringer has only made crap dj gear for a long time. Their small-format FOH/PA mixers were fine for the price (though there were other options in the range) and I've heard good things about the iNuke amps. More than one person I respect–to at least some degree–has suggested the Truth series monitors.

But, to nem0nic's credit, he does seem to have a very strong passion for DJing and understand controllers, having used them longer than anyone else I've even heard of. He probably has more experience than the founders of this site, and has had his hands on some equipment that are a dream to all but a small handful of people. And he had a DJ career that a lot of people dream about before this.

He's a good guy, and while we disagree about a lot of stuff (look up our mac vs. pc threads for a taste) I, for one, really respect him.

The CMD controllers are–to my knowledge–the first thing he really did working at Behringer, and we all hope that they're good. The controller market needs some more competition, because right now, NI seems to be completely dominant. Competition is a good thing if it does nothing but provoke NI, Vestax, etc. to say "well…that's a good idea…now lets make a good product out of it." And given what he's said about Behringer's manufacturing, they could be better than that.

It'll be a long time before I even pretend to consider one of their mixers, though. But I doubt that I'm their target market.

As it stands, I'd buy the Steinberg controllers before Behringer for DAW control because that's what they were designed to do…but I'd never buy them for DJ stuff, and I don't think I'd actually buy them for DAW control…I'd spend more money on something that fits my desired workflow better, though depending on how that turns out, I could see buying one of them just to record fader automation.

jalou1995 : what reputable brands do if they discover a problem with their release is recall the product. what did you do? well ignored us. wait!!! yes you did something, you released BCD3000 and left the first generation buyers without a proper solution. My point is beyond the afformentioned product but rather your after sale service. Get it???

Well as much as i would really love it to work this way, there aren't a lot of companies doing that, and most of the companies just release a new "improved" version of the hardware. Even if sometimes we feel that a simple os/driver update would solve the thing (which may not be true in all cases). And it's not something that only small or underrated companies do, the list is too big to write up and include some top of the game manufacturer ( vestax, akai, pioneer, etc...).
We are just lucky to live in a time when there is the possibility of building communities around products (where would be the vci 100 today if it wasn't for dj techtools, the firmware upgrade was only done for djtt, and vestax just went ahead and released a vci 100 mkII). And because of the vastness of the internet there just might be someone with the skills to create a new firmware or a mod, or like djtt some amazing mappings.

I guess the point i'm trying to make is that companies rest too much on their laurels ( just look at what some companies are releasing as mappings for their hardwares to see that they could benefit greatly from at least paying someone skilled to create mappings). But you cannot point your finger at one business without pointing it to all of the industry players, they are all guilty, and i'd rather have to buy the mkII of something cheap(ish) rather than say the pioneer cdj 2000 mkII that will set you back some big moneyzzz.

aint it sad, tsk tsk tsk. just like the vms4 now vms4.1, well at least they did acknowledge the problem with the mic inputs and provided mic transformers for free. i do applaud these companies providing affordable equipment eg behringer, numark, gemini, american audio etc. however i wish that they dont release products that are lemons. my point is even if it wouldnt really last long (i wouldnt mind that it gets damage say within a year, i did pay cheap right), it should at least work as advertised.
