Default Can you create samples with TP2?

I don't have TP2, but this could be the one thing that'll push me to make the move.

I know that there's 4 sample decks on each of the 4 virtual decks, but can you create samples?

I know with the loop recorder you can create a loop and drag and drop it to a sample deck, but can you save those? If so, does it actually save as a separate MP3 file and take up more space on your hd, or does it just access the sample directly from the MP3 file?

You create a loop of a current playing track and you can then save that loop as a sample.
