Default Is My MacBook Powerful Enough For The Traktor Kontrol S2?

Hello, I am thinking of purchasing a Traktor Kontrol S2 for DJ'ing, I am new to everything DJ and have never owned a DJ controller of anything of the sort before in my life. I was reading through the specifications for the Traktor and saw that the minimum requirements for Mac is 2gb of RAM. I own a 2.26ghz Intel Core 2 Duo MacBook 13" with 2gb of RAM and was wondering if this Traktor would lag on my mac? Would it help if I used virtual DJ instead of Traktor maybe? Virtual DJ on my mac works fine with no lag but I don't know if it would be a different story with the controller? I would much rather a Traktor s2 over numark mixtrack pro, who's system requirements is only 1024mb.
    Thanks in advance

Traktor will perform fine on your mac. The S2 is a great starting point, and do not ever use Virtual DJ with it, your controller may explode.

I use a 1.83 GHz intel core duo with 2gb of ram and traktor works fine for me so you'll be fine! It gets a bit laggy when running ableton with traktor so might have to upgrade some time soon. Just make sure you switch off everything that your mac doesnt need to run whilst your playing!

It will run fine, even better now that traktor has multicore support.

Why does everyone treat traktor like it's some big resource hog? I ran it just fine on an old shitty single core laptop. Quad core beasts with 16 gigs of RAM is such a huge waste...

Ableton is a digital audio workstation, a very powerful piece of music production software with a few cool features that make it ideal for playing loops in a live performance.

You can use it for DJing but unless you have experience with production it's not very user friendly. Also it's a bit like using a formula 1 sports car to drive to work :P

Lots of different ways you can use it to dj with too! I have traktor and ableton synced with each of the 4 decks going into 4 different audio channels and then use my launchpad to play dummy clips to control different effect permitters (each time I launch a dummy clip it sets the effects on each channel to certain values. So much fun to play with but fairly intense on my laptops performance.
