Starting out. Help Wanted!!!!

I'm somewhat new to DJing,
However I am looking for some opinions and options on good starting Controllers. My budget is roughly around $800.

After researching for 2 weeks, I think the S2 will fit my needs (s4 is overkill and I intend on using Traktor) and perhaps a Midi Fighter classic. Would I even need a Midi Fighter if I have the S2?? Finally would these two work well together and work well to my needs???

Any suggestions for alternative controllers??

Personally mate, I'd go for a Hercules or numark to begin with.

Don't go throwing everything at a hobbie that you may HATE after a couple of months!

Why not try a couple of the demo versions of software? Rather than just go for traktor as you've probably read, alot of people on here use traktor. But ableton or serato might be better for your needs.

Just don't jump into something so big, too soon.

I've had the demo for Traktor 3 weeks now, I had VDJ pro for nearly 2 years (got it pirated). Been contemplating buying Dj equipment for awhile. I still have yet to try Serato but i havent heard many good things about Ableton.
Whats the model of the Hercules???

Wouldn't talk about pirated stuff here mate.

It's a Steel. More buttons than the RMX and fully metal. Does not have a soundcard however.

Honestly if I was in your position, i'd just get the S2. Midifighter classics are fun to play around with, but I feel like I don't use it as much as I did when I first bought mine. That being said, i'd definitely buy one second hand though for like $100 ~ $150ish.

I wouldn't say using VDJ for 2 years is relatively new to DJ'ing personally.

If you can do decent enough without headphones on VDJ and your comfortable with using the keyboard controls or mouse, then you may aswell go straight to the S2.

I know it's contradicting what I said before, but after 2 years experience, you may aswell.

I do think all metal is a plus, however no sound card is somewhat difficult to justify. Being that the S2 is bundled with a sound card and traktor 2 pro. But do you have pictures of the midifighter??

Sorry it's so small. I'm at work but found this in another thread. Orange and green, and I don't even use it anymore. I have mapped what I wanted from it to the X1.
