The mixdeck express is actually a good gear for both CD Djing as well as using it as a controller. The only thing you can't do with it is use a DVS system because the CD players doesn't have output and no phono inputs for external source. But for it's price, it's a win.

But if you don't need the CD capabilities, then look into NI S2. Just add $100 and you're set.

    DVS - Digital Vinyl System

Traktor Scratch, Serato Scratch Live and M-Audio Torq Conectiv are samples of DVS. It comes with a software, soundcard box/interface and time coded vinyl & CDs. The DVS is best used with vinyl turntables.

You can. But don't expect any CD player or MIDI controller to be as 100% accurate as vinyl turntables when it comes to scratching. Nothing beats the "real thing".

Yup it's good. But if budget is not a problem, then go for the S4. You can at least use DVS later on when you decide to hook up a pair of turntables or CD players.

You can find used ones for bargain prices.

I think the Mixdeck express comes with VDJ LE, is this program OK?
