    I use all the ableton ones, eq8, and a generic compressor that i tune myself. Its more about knowing how the processor works, than the brand of processor itself.

    I do this aswell. Works fine for me, listen to my music if you don't believe me.

    Personally I really like Camel's line of stuff for some compression. But, I generally tend to use a lot of the built-in's with Ableton as well.

    i believe also that someone who needs to ask won't hear a difference.
    and why use something you didn't hear the reason for?

    some producers i know would suggest some tools from sonalksis, waves or tone2, but in my opinion are these too expensive for beginners or "hobby work"
