I use all the ableton ones, eq8, and a generic compressor that i tune myself. Its more about knowing how the processor works, than the brand of processor itself.

Personally I really like Camel's line of stuff for some compression. But, I generally tend to use a lot of the built-in's with Ableton as well.

i believe also that someone who needs to ask won't hear a difference.
and why use something you didn't hear the reason for?

some producers i know would suggest some tools from sonalksis, waves or tone2, but in my opinion are these too expensive for beginners or "hobby work"
