    Default Speaker Dilemma: Rokit 6's or Discontinued Studio Precision 8's?

    Ok guys got a dilemma and I need your help because I am still pretty new to DJing and professional audio equipment.

    My cousin has a pair of Event SP8's that he purchased when he went to music production school. He is now a personal trainer and doesn't use them. They are very nice Studio Monitors that originally retailed around $1200 a piece when he purchased them about 3 or 4 years ago. Unfortunately they are now discontinued. Both speakers are still in perfect condition, I have heard them, seen them, touched them so I know he is not screwing me. He is willing to sell them to me, as a pair, for $300. I know it sounds ridiculous but we are family and I know he is serious.

    or....

    I could just buy a pair of the highly popular, tried and true, Rokit 6's for around the same price and have a little more customer support if something breaks or goes wrong. I hear they are a great deal for the sound quality and a lot of people stand by them.

    My question(s):
    Should I buy the SP8's or the RP6's?
    Are the SP8's obsolete these days?
    Is it a big deal if those speakers are discontinued?

    If you have experience with the Event SP8's let me know what you thought.

    No contest. I have the KRK 6's and I love them but I would take the Events in a second. Buy the events and I'll trade you my KRKs for them!

    Ok i purchased the speakers and they sound amazing. Im very happy.
    I have run into a problem though.
    I am using an audio 2 sound card. When I use 1/4 inch cables to connect my speakers. The sound is really messed up, the bass isn't there and the highs are all messed up.
    Wen I use 3.5mm cable it works fine. Why does it do that? I prefer to use 1/4inch cables. Does my audio 2 sound card not put out enough power for a 1/4 inch cable or something?

    Uhh…you know the outputs on the Audio 2 are Stereo and not balanced, right? Or am I missing something?
