    Default Help for Novice

    Hi,

Totally new to the world of DJ equipment. My twin grandsons (age 14) want a DJ system for Xmas. They were at a camp over the summer and were told they had some skill with this.

I don't understand the difference between a controller vs a mixer vs CD plus iPod DJ system. They seem to think they need a Pioneer DJ (DJJ-ERGO) Controller. Yet, when I read that, it says it needs to be used with a computer, which I think that would confine them to one room of the house to practice this. Besides that, the costs are way high.

Will anyone please give me some recommendations of where to start them off?

    Thank you!

Just my advice,Pioneer DJ (DJJ-ERGO) Controller is overpriced. I would go for a Traktor S2 (bundles with Traktor Pro 2). You can get them on eBay for around $500 shipped.

Well DJ equipment can be as cheap as $250 to $10,000. What are you looking to spend??
