    Default Couple of questons.

One of my tt's emits a very soft sound, very grumbly and distorted. I'm positive its a cartridge problem or possibly a grounding issue. What would happen is if i brought my hand near the cart, it would start making a weird sound. Even if the TT was turned off. My Cart is a Stanton 400.v3 or v.2.
    - What Could be causing the problem above?
    - How can I fix it?

and some questions out of curiosity:
    - Can I replace a needle once its worn out? or do i have to replace the entire cartridge once the needle wears out?

    - Can someone please point me in the direction of a guide with some general turntable advice? Or maybe someone can give a noob some protips?

    Thank you all very much

What turntable are you using? Does the weird sound happen even if the needle isn't touching anything? It could be your needle, cartridge, headshell or internal wire problems probably in the RCA or PCB in the tonearm assembly.

As for your curiosity question about replacing, you only need to replace the needles and not the entire cartridge if the needle is worn out or needs replacing.

I just got 2 vestax pdx 2000, used. I know its not the turntable itself, because before buying them, i tested them out with the stores needles and a record, and it was fine. I bought these carts and never tested them in store. That is likely the problem.

And that is a relief! I was wondering if its an easy thing to do. Like can I just order some needles and pop 'em in?
    thanks
