beatport is a good resource for legit music.

'Free' music is readily available from legit sources such as soundcloud etc without going out your way to rip artists off.

Free acapellas can be had from http://www.acapellas4u.co.uk/

There are also plenty mash up sites where artists and remixers put up their work for download if you take the time to look for them.

You can build up a legal, morally decent catalogue without spending a fortune or resorting to bit torrent sites.

i use itunes all the time. Pros are it's cheaper. Cons are the artists sees less money, but that may not be in all cases. You can't care compare the 256K AAC to 320K MP3 as they're two different encoding methods that don't directly relate by number alone.

Beatport is the one. Made the switch from vinyl to CDJ's recently and my collection has grown so fast, spending the same as I would on vinyl.
