Purchase and Mapping Question

Hey everyone, this is my first post. I've recently, around a year ago, started messing around with Virtual DJ, I then moved on to Traktor and have been using it for around 5 months now. Since then I've been using a keyboard - I'm ready to buy my first controller! I'm comfortable with samples, beat mashing, mixing, etc.

At first I wanted to buy the s2 combo with the Midi Fighter (My friend told me the s4 was overkill). I guess I can see where he's coming from, seeing you can do most of the same stuff with the s2 minus the 2 extra channels.

The midi fighter mapping seemed like it could give me more room for creativity and some all around mashup fun.

But recently I discovered the Akai MPD18.

It's a fraction of the price of the Midi Fighter and has some extra features. Maybe I'm missing something though (I'm not trying to bash the midi fighter in any way)

My question is, would I be able to use the mapping for the midi fighter (Both regular and instant gratification) with the Akai MPD18?

Any other advice, suggestions, preferences, etc is welcome and appreciated!
