    Default music-related jobs and studies

I've taken some time off from my regular school, where i am studying political science and hope to later go into law, but in the mean time I'm getting a job and am going to go to a local college for some extra credits and skills.
so i ask: would it be useful, for someone who is interested in doing musical things, to learn about recording? I produce some music, but for now its only as a hobby, and when i play with DJing its purely for myself and infrequent.
what sort of classes could i take to step up in the world of music? what skills would be useful to have a small, part-time job deal with music. what would one have to do to take care of sound tech at a club, for instance?
any and all input is appreciate
