No, they aren't compatible with each other. Look into buying a USB hub, powered or non-powered. There's an article about it from years back here.
wont that cause latency problems?
If there is any it's probably negligible.
Just jam the USB lead in there until it fits. Use a small hammer to reshape it if necessary.
17.3" Packard Bell Easynote, 2x Numark TTX1, Rane TTM57SL, Novation Dicers, Serato Scratch live, Ableton Live 8
And sprinkle with pixie dust if it doesn't work first time out
USB hub, powered preferably but it probably won't matter for a couple things unless you are attaching a hard drive or something.
I had my DB4, 2 X1s, Audio 8, and Maschine plugged into my powered USB hub for like a month without the power cord to the hub plugged in and I didn't realize it or notice a difference when the hub was in unpowered mode, the LEDs were just a tiny bit dimmer.
u r probably doing too much with ur computer...
You are going to have to talk nicely to your computer if you are just going to jam a usb into the firewire. At least buy it a drink.
Powered usb hub. There's a couple threads around about what hubs are good.
