    Default stiff VCi-100 volume faders

I have a new VCI-100 black and one thing I hate is the faders (volume) they are stiff and would prefer them looser and smoother...Anyway to make them less stiff? Any real tips?

I had the same problem with kit. I tried using small amounts of silicon based lube and it made no difference, actually worsened the resistance. So I dusted off the old soldering iron and replaced them.

    part #652-PTE60-151B-103B2

just simple 10k 60mm sliders that fit perfectly into the VCI's existing hardware. took no longer than an hour. these faders are much smoother and much more playable than the stock hardware.

There is also plenty of helpful information about replacing sliders in other threads.

maybe I do this ..I am sure the VCM-400 will be smoother. I am no soldering pro, but sure I can do it How do I get to them? Take off the cover...? Any tutorial on here? I'd love to have A&H faders..those are butter smooth.

I do believe the faders will be smoother, but they forgot to put a crossfader on the vcm-400.

I just bought a Bitstream 3x for peanuts off Ebay and it looked like it had been dunked in beer + coke. All the pots were stiff as buggery and the faders were shot, all I did was spray some electrical contact cleaner in them and them are as good as new, might be worth a try before you break out the iron!
