Default Which studio monitors to buy?

Hey all! I'm looking at getting some monitors and am looking at a few particular options. The names, prices and links are listed below. I know a lot of you use the KRK's, but I find it hard to justify spending so much on just some 5" studio monitors. I'd love input from those of you who have purchased on a budget before and how you came to your decision. I will only use these in my room for messing around and practicing, nothing too major. Links:

    KRK Rokit G2 5": http://trdd.us/qm
    M-Audio AV40: http://trdd.us/qn
    M-Audio AV30: http://trdd.us/qo

Thanks for all the help guys! Love the forums here!

Yamaha HS50/80's depending on your budget. Won't go wrong at all. They are the best in that range, and they are completely flat and transparent and don't colour the sound at all, and that's what you want most in a pair of studio monitors. If your mixdown is bad, it will sound. If your mixdown is good, it will still sound bad! If you're mixdown is great then it will sound good.

It really forces you to make a good mixdown because it will tell you exactly what's going on.

It really depends on what you want to do with them- if these are just for DJing then you won't beat KRK rokkit series, if it is for production you are better off with the yamahas- but the better the monitors are for producing the more dull sounding they will be for DJing.

I wouldn't want to DJ with anything other than the KRKs (pref. 6" or 8") probably unless I had a sub to crank up with them.

Definitely avoid the maudios though they are pretty bad. I'm going to assume you mean for DJing since this is in the general DJing forum so the KRKs.

I just recently bought a pair of KRK Rokit 6's and they're spot on +1

I didn't even think about the fact that you would be DJing with them. If that's the case then go with what Xone said. But in all actuality, there are better options for a DJ monitor setup then a pair of KRKs
