    Default Going to Timecode...

    Right,

Great site, really helpful articles and guides.

    Q.

I am wanting to use my TT for timecode...

I have a numark mixtrack pro and I have Traktor Scratch Pro 2 on my Mac.

What do I need in order to get my TTs linked to traktor?

    Thanks,

    Xian

Do you have an Audio 4/6/8/10 card? or a Kontrol S4?

(and if not, how did you end up getting the Scratch Upgrade?)

    Welcome To The Forum.

Traktor Scratch Pro is only sold with NI Audio cards or under specific circumstances. Without an NI soundcard or certified mixer or S4 you cannot use timecode.

Please read the product pages at Native Instruments.

    Ok,

I have had another check and I actually have Traktor LE!

I thought (mistake) that it was Scratch!

So what should be my steps?

    I have a DIGITAL PRO MIXER DDM4000.

    Thanks,

    Xian

Thanks for the link, however I can't access it on my phone. What would I need to buy? What would be the best option?

If you get gigs in clubs a NI soundcard seems the best way to go, if not it's more personal preference. There is no right or wrong.

Seems like your mixer sends MIDI (5 sec google search, could be wrong) so it might be the cheapest to just get a NI soundcard.
Then again if you really hate that mixer, now maybe a great time to get another one.

2 Things you need to run timecode:

    1) You need either a Native Instruments audio interface (Traktor Audio 10 or 6, or an older used Audio 8 or 4 DJ) or you could get a new mixer that has an internal audio interface that is Traktor Scratch Certified (Pioneer DJM 900, Pioneer DJM 850, Pioneer DJM-T1, Denon X1700, Denon X1600, Korg Zero 8, Korg Zero 4, Ecler EVO 5, or Allen & Heath Xone: 4D) or you could get a Native Instruments Traktor Kontrol S4, which is a controller that has an internal soundcard that is Scratch Certified.

    2) You need either Traktor Scratch Duo, Traktor Scratch 2 Duo, Traktor Scratch Pro, or Traktor Scratch Pro 2 for software. You can find people selling the software, 2nd hand, by itself. It usually comes bundled though. So a new Traktor Scratch 2 Duo software will come w/ a Traktor Audio 6 and a new Traktor Scratch Pro 2 will come w/ a Traktor Audio 10. Let's say you want to get a Traktor certified mixer, and you want a Traktor Scratch license, and you don't need or want the bundled Audio interface it comes with, then you can buy a special discounted License only package (still comes w/ vinyl and cd's though) that you are only able to buy if you own a Traktor Scratch Certified mixer.

Thanks for such a detailed and helpful post.

I have decided that I should go for the X1 controller, is the basics of it?

    TT - X1 - My mixer - Mac?

You will still need the soundcard; the X1 is just a controller.
