not for nothing but I've seen the guy 2-3 times. His sets are really not all that good. Maybe he should try without it, not for the sake of the beat match but cause his sets have terrible flow.

i've lost a bit of respect for zedd...
because i dont want to.
while you're counting beats for 30 seconds im spending 30 more seconds on creativity. honestly this argument is silly. that damn button has no bearing on how good or bad you are. its like all the old school haters are standing there like cavemen counting on theyre fingers while we make the wheel. just cause you dont understand something new doesnt make it cheating. no one who syncs complains about beatmachers. its like do what you want. who cares. get over yourself and ability to count things.
maybe we could just have a new subforum for all these sync verses manual beat matching wanky discussions... there seems to be way more of them these days than there used to be - or maybe i just check this sub forum more often now

One thing I would say though: I really hope 'spending 30 seconds more on creativity' doesn't just mean whacking on a flanger or gater and twiddling the filter knob. I've seen creative performance and that ain't it.

What I don't understand is how people who religiously use sync complain about how easy beat or phase matching is, but then never do it. Because it's "pointless" or "wastes time," you know what else wastes time? Manually transitioning and loading tracks, and that's all you're really doing when you sync. If you're going to try and make a case that it's easy to "just count things" and you don't need to, don't be surprised when people call you out for "just pushing play" and moving a fader or knob, because that's all you're really doing, the machine's doing the actual legwork for you. Most crappy laptop DJs these days could be replaced by a really stuttery jukebox with an Automix.
"Being more creative" is a BS excuse for just being lazy. If bringing a track in properly matched seriously hampers your ability to slam on the beatmasher, then maybe you should cool it on the "creativeness," or switch to a more freeform method of playing like Live. There is absolutely no situation I've ever been in where cue bashing a track in and occasionally nudging a jogwheel has prevented me from adding an effect, for better or for worse. And if you cant manage the effects or filters used for mixing out while keeping your ear to the phase, then you just really need practice, not a machine to do it for you.

Most crappy DJs could be replaced with Juke Box no matter what they use.
