    Default VJ Software

    Hey guys and smurfs...

Our VJ, Hurricane is an awesome tech and puts on some great and trippy visual for us, but i was wondering if anyone knew of an even better prog to use than arkaos? Its all beyond me seriously i just get drunk and play lol. We love it but the resolution doesn't seem to come out too good with the projector, almost "winampish". He spends a lot of time preparing for our night and it all runs thru the DMX which is mind blowing, but we want more. Any VJ experts here?

Thanks buddy i will pass on the link to him. In our shows the visuals are very important. We like a really psychedelic vibe going on, pounding along with the dmx makes a hell of a difference.

I highly recommend Modul8 by Garagecube. http://www.modul8.ch. It is only for mac though. It it well made, has great online support/community and is constantly updated. Also, you can design your own plugins as well as access a online database within the program to download garagecube and user created plugins. The program can be controlled by outside midi signals too, allowing you to dj and vj at the same time with 2 computers. It's a little pricey but you can get a great deal on it if you're a student. Hope that helps, good luck!

My 1st VDJ prog was Motion Dive Tokyo. and it got the job dont but lacked 1 key feat. midi. you could hook it up to a roland controller but that was it. I used another prog my on pc (now dead) but Ill check to see the name of the prog

If you figure out how to do midi clock syncing I'm pretty sure both Modul8 http://www.garagecube.com/modul8/ and VDMX5 http://www.vidvox.com/ support this.

Also VDMX5 has a really neat audio eq analyzer plugin built in that allows you to sync video fx up with the audio that is being analyzed... and in general is HYPER flexible.

Both of these are also mac only solutions, for windows (and mac) there's Resolume that's also pretty awesome though i'm not too familiar with it myself.
