    Default Sratching with CDJ's

Now this could very well be due to the fact that I'm using them via HID mode with Traktor, but dear mother of god do these things suck for scratching. I give major props to anyone who is good at it. It was only one night, but I don't plan on ever using these again for my open format night. I play a lot of old funk, soul, and golden era hip hop, so scratching is a HUGE part of what I do. I had an all house night that I did Friday, and was too lazy to switch the gear out for the next night. Big mistake. Not NEARLY the same control I have with vinyl, but then again, this was the first time I've really used any CD player in that capacity, and have been using wax for over 15 years now.

The HID mode on CDJs sucks for scratching in Traktor. Before you put it completely away grab a set of V2 control CDs and give them a try, they work a lot better.... Even though nothing compares to real vinyl!

I'm pretty sure it's the fact that you're using them with traktor's simple HID. They're not as good for scratching as vinyl of course, but if you use them with CDs the platter response is a hell of a lot better. SSL's advanced HID is much better than what traktor has too, and I know that's a priority for NI to fix.

Either way, I'll stick to lugging out the turntables. It feels a lot better. From a marketing/x-factor standpoint, it looks a lot cooler too, so that plays into perception which plays into your fanbase. Lastly, but maybe most importantly, a turntable is going to be a lot less expensive vs a CDJ if it were to somehow meet some type of destruction via gig dangers.
