Traktor for Android?

Hi, does anybody know if there is coming Traktor for Android devices? I really would like to use my tablet instead of buying a laptop. Technically its no Problem to run Traktor on Android i think. But with the midi controller and the external soundcard.. i dont know.

android is generally not favored by developers as there are many permutations of the operating system and hardware, for this reason iOS is favored as there is only an upgrade every couple of years to both the hardware and the operating system, this means software vendors can sell ther product without a major overhaul for longer periods of time. I was about to buy one but waiting for win8 is the smartest solution in my case.

This argument is purely academic. You can't run traktor on Linux, let alone iOS or android. I wouldn't be surprised if one of the big 3 releases an iOS version in the next couple of years, but there's been no official word from any of them yet. And if you want a tablet that's likely to be the first to get a true pro grade piece of DJ software, get an iPad.

One of the biggets pains in the ass is these super powerful little devices can't play host for controllers! They only have the ability to be a hardware client (unlike the aformentioned ipad).

Once the platform it truley opened up, (which I beleive it will be soon) dev's will be in a far better place to work with hardware. Only then will we see the laptop being replaced completely.

I'd love ANY dj app that simply uses the Traktor beatgrids. I spend a lot of time getting these right, and I'm yet to find an android app that does an even remotely close job. I don't need a lot of bells and whistles, just want to have a backup DJ app on my phone that I can use (without headphones, hence the importance of beatgrids) to do basic mixing when something's happened to my regular Traktor setup.

Android is easier to develop for in many ways, but so is IOS. Android has beeter ways to make money from ads. People who buy apple stuff generally spend more on apps. Android now has a bigger market share by a mile in phones so you are starting to see android being deved for 1st.

However apple really do dominate in the tablet space. I think this has alot to do with android 3.0 as every1 knew it was just a stop gap for 4.0 so people didnt make tablet optimised apps for android. Android 4.0 is as good as IOS in my opion on the tablet front, however cuz of those earlier mistakes there isnt alot of apps. lets demo this wit sum sudo

i don't think there is a basis for this claim. there are several permutations of ios as well. older-gen devices don't get updates from apple anymore. so you need to build your apps against several ios versions. it's not so different with android. you build your apps against a few releases of android. every release has one single device which represents the reference implementation of that release. you can use the reference implementation for testing and don't need to test with every single hardware. it might be a bit tougher on android but not much. and android has other advantages (larger user base, much less restrictive app store).

that digitaldjtips article was weak. the main reason why developers of professional audio apps prefer ios so strongly over android is because ios has all the necessary APIs while android lacks those. (as i wrote above, no low-latency audio and no out-of-the-box MIDI support on android.) all other reasons are a distant second to that.
