Tips for quick cuts to songs

I was wondering if you guys had any tips for doing quick cuts to songs like a lot of hip hop music does. Any tips to make it sound like its flowing without getting any weird blimps/outcomes.

Also do quick cuts really work for EDM?

If you match phrases, you can cut just about anything quickly.

For hip hop, coming in with a beat, or the first verse right and the end of the chorus (of the previous song).

Quick cuts work on transitions or builds with EDM. If you allow something to build you can drop the huge explosion of another song into it very quickly and it seem like basically a mash up.
