Default VCI-100 Jog Wheels Are Screaming At Me

    Hi Guys,

As time has gone on, my VCI-100 jog wheels, when being turned squeal a high pitched screech.

I know how to take the VCI-100 apart and open the jog wheel enclosues, but would like a suggestion for what to lubricate the wheel pin with, without affecting the electrical contact.

Is contact switch cleaner any good, or WD-40.

The noise is driving me insane when I practice at night at a low level.

    Thanks guys.

i used graphite to lube mine, took a simple #2 pencil and took some of the lead and marked around the dowel. graphite is used alot as a way to make things smooth and because it isnt liquid you dont have to worry about it damaging anything.

Using pencil graphite versus graphite lubricant is a big discrepancy, though. #2 pencils get their certain level of hardness by being mixed with another medium (most likely clay). If you're going to lubricate with graphite, use real lubricant.

I, however, used something called Hoppe's Elite Gun Oil, one drop on the contact area on each side... And my platters are silent and ~9 times with a medium flick. And still conductive enough to sense my palm when it's not even touching the plate.

I went to Maplins (UK Electronics Store) and bought some contact switch cleaner / lubricant. Some of the items you guys suggested are a bit exotic (Can't find a UK supplier).

Will let you know how I get on, but thanks for taking the time to advise.
