I hope that this question doesn't betray my idiocy entirely but I was wondering (as someone completely new to djing live) what would be the best collection of tunes to rock a gig with. Now obviously that depends on basically everything including where and who the gig is for. But lets say for your average bar/lounce/mini-club/restaurant club gig in today's culture what would be my most solid track selection. Whenever I see dj's I typically see a lot of housey remixes, basic guido/four on the floor dribble being played all night long. I'm not against playing some deadmau5, l-vis, daft punk, zedd, and ppl like that. So I feel that I could put a few hours together of housey music. But I'd also like to incorporate a lot of dupstep and hip hop into my sets which is a lot slower and also somewhat removed from the tastes of people who go out to dance to house music.
So I know thats a lot and not all that specific. But I have some possible gigs and interviews lined up and I kinda just want some advice from any gigging/professional dj's on how to start off playlist wise.
