Default Traktor Scratch Pro 2.5 licence on used gear.

    Hi Everyone,

I tried to search this, but coudn't find a similar thread.

I was wondering if you can buy a TSP licence from NI.

The reason I ask is, I have a friend that has an A10 package he wants to sell to me, but he won't be releasing his licence with it.

I do have a service ticket with NI, but we all know how long it takes for them to answer, so I thought I'd ask here to see if anyone else has experienced buying a licence from NI without having to buy new hardware.

    Thanks,

I think you'd have to buy the s4 scratch bundle (its just an upgrade from TP2 to TSP2 with some timecode vinyl and cd's). Since they are pretty much giving away traktor pro for free now it shouldn't be too hard to get hold of a copy of TP2. I think this is your best option, unless NI have changed it recently.

Hey Thanks for the reply. I don't want an S4 though. As I mentioned he has the A10 package, just no software.

I prefer the A10 as I can use it with my current set-up. I'm not really interested in buying the S4 just for the software.

I guess it's not worth the trouble to buy, or sell, used NI gear if the software isn't included.

The bundle Conall speaks of is just a license for Scratch Pro 2 and some time code discs. It Doesn't come with an S4, but was originally released to upgrade the S4 software to Scratch. Since you have or will have an A10 that counts as a qualifying product.

OH okay! So this link you replied is actually a full verson of TSP 2.5? I thought it was just an upgrade kit for non-scratch customers.

Hmmm... I think I have some negotiating power on the sale of this A10.

Another question though, when I register TSP 2.5 does it need to verify the serial number (s/n) on the A10? Do soundcard s/n get attached to the software with NI?

Yes it's the full version and comes with it's own serial number. The A10 or any other qualifying product will have to be connected as the sound card for Scratch functionality to work though. So any A4, A6, A8 or A10 will work. Here's the list of qualified mixers. http://co.native-instruments.com/ind...ratchcertified

    SUCKS!

So my friend wanted $400 bucks for his used A10 package without software and wouldn't budge on the price. After working out all the costs I'd only save $50 bucks. I guess I'll keep hunting.

You should be able to find a used A10 for just under $300. Or an A8 in the $200 range.

For deals, craiglist is your best bet.

Lord knows how much money I've saved on that site.
