    Default Electro Swing!

Ask those who probably know best......

Right, im doing a do with a Battle of Britain theme in a couple of weeks-Old scramble hut on an airfield, the lot.

What i need is some recommendations for some Electro swing, to kick the party up a notch. Ive a couple of albums from itunes, but knowledge is pretty limited on the genre. The most famous track everyone knows is Gramaphondzie-why dont you, so something in that vein, or just tracks with swing samples etc.

Im going to use the Audio Hijack software shown by mad zach to get some wacky 30'+40's samples to chuck in as well, for transitions between vastly different BPM's, as it seems Swing stuff can vary quite widely from 80-150!

Although people claim it is already dead in Berlin I spun Electro-Swing at two gigs recently and people loved it. It will be definitely hot for another year or two.

There's a couple other threads on this; maybe someone should make a sticky with all the relevant links on it...

    Anyway here's my mixes - http://soundcloud.com/djproben/swingset and http://soundcloud.com/djproben/swing-daddy-o

Look up Prohibition Groove from 1994, or old Greenskeepers, or anything on the G-Swing label if you want an earlier take on this style. There was also a label called "Electro-Swing" for a minute that did something very different with this sound; it's still (mostly) house tempo electronic (and some dnb thrown in) but much more emphasis on making pieces of music that stand on their own rather than just chopped up samples.
