VCI Acade button Mod - DIY hole drilling?

Anyone know a cheap DIY way to make the holes though the VCI (i have the older style with the beefy steel).

These are the arcade buttons i have been looking at because the http://www.happcontrols.com has been down the last couple of days.(Atleast i cant access it anyway, i am getting 404- page not found errors). Also this place will probably wind up cheaper for me to order from.

Also will that locking mechanism stand up to what i need it for, or should i be looking for a screwing mechanism? Or will superglue keep it snug ?

Damn was just doing some messuring and they will be too big, i will have to find 26mm or a 28mm version thats nice and small.

To make holes, you need two things:

1. A drill press - you'll never make accurate holes without one. Clamp everything down!
2. A "stepped bit" hole enlarger - it's hard to do a great job by drilling successive holes and changing bits each time.

The most professional results come from using a laser cutter and building a completely new faceplate from scratch. I'm lucky enough to have a TechShop just up the road where I can use one for $30 a day.

Here's an alternative site to happcontrols my brothers ordered buttons and joysticks from them recently it's cheaper than happcontrols if your buying under 50 buttons at a time which it's safe to say you will be.

Thanks for the great DIY drilling instructions! i am tossing up between doing this and taking it to place down the road that does the water jet cutting - though i have no idea how much they will cost.

u can usea dremel also just mark out the hole and grind away!!! maybe practice on some metal first to get the hang of it.
