Default 20 Minute Mix -- Approximately 50 Tunes. HELP.

    Hi.
I'm looking to make a 20-25 minute mix with a TON of songs in it. Mainly drops, but obviously some buildups and some breakdowns. Now..
Do you think I am better off using Ableton?
Or is this possible to do in Traktor?
I just got the s4 yesterday from a friend to borrow.
I am comfortable with 2/4 track mixes.
    Watcha think?

Do it on a platform that doesn't auto sync for you and then you'll earn some cred.

Cuepoints will be your friend. Ive never done 50+ songs in 20 min, but I think if you can edit the tracks properly, in Ableton or in Traktor, you might be able to pull it off if you can beatmatch quick enough.

50 tracks in 20 mins? Why? Just to prove you can?

Sounds like it would be pretty uncomfortable to me. If I were attempting it I would want to be using ableton and would have a very carefully planned and tested track listing. And I certainly wouldn't be doing it in one take :P

Ableton all the way for something like this. Even if you were going to do it live, you would have to edit each track to help it fit in the time constraint, and once you've done that you may as well just sequence it out. The credit should go to you for making that many tunes in that space of time sound great together, not whether you mix it in traktor or ableton.
You hear mixes where people cram 200 tunes into 5 minutes, and i've yet to hear something like that come out in a coherent manner. It just sounds like loads of bits of tunes stuck next to each other with no real blending between them. Granted you may need to do some of this in a mix of this nature, but surely the whole purpose of any mix is both track selection, and how well the tracks work with each other?

I did this mix for XFM here in the UK a while back, and it's been hailed by the station as the best 10 minutes they ever put out. 84 tracks in 10 minutes... [end shameless plug] I don't think it would have come out sounding nearly so clean if i hadn't have used ableton.

@Stereo:Type That mix is a total monster!!

Seeing as I work for the company that owns XFM, i'm pissed off that i've only just discovered this mix!

......i'm busily grabbing everything downloadable with your name on, on soundcloud! :-)
