    Default Sound Card

    Hey all,

Im new to DJing on the computer. I bought the Vestax VCI 100 after it was suggested by a friend. He told me I would need an external sound card (he suggested Audio 4 DJ) in order to use headphones to monitor.

Does anyone have any suggestions for an external sound card that will work besides Audio 4 DJ? I am not looking for anything fancy. Just something cheap that will allow me to monitor with the headphones and send output to the speakers.

    Hey,

Here is a soundcard by Numark http://www.numark.com/djio. I personally do not have one. You should check out reviews of it before you buy. The sound card is definitely geared towards beginner djs.

I am looking to purchase a VCI-100 and I am thinking that the audio 4 is probably a better choice then the one I just showed you. The audio 4 is a bit more expensive though. I hope this helped.

    Firewire or usb?

If firewire, then get a presonus firebox.

Usb, then I'd vote for a NI card - audio4/audio8/kontrol1.

A beginner DJ myself, I use the DJIO and have no problems with it. And with the $99 price tag (at least here in Chicago), it's not a bad deal at all.
