Well this is true if you are running dual channel ram don't be fooled not all ram is dual channel or tripple. And I you wanted to be exactly correct the ram should be matched sets from manufacture such as ram kits. As far as I know with macs there's not special ram but ram optimized for them. Usually priced but I look at that how mobo manufactures have recommended ram brands and even models so take it how you like.

Some more tidbits most desktop mobo have certain ram configurations when mixing and matching I would assume laptops that can take more then two sticks would be like this also.

I personally can't say I've ever seen a performance dropped from mixed ram almost always will see some gain over what was there. Benchmarks maybe not but in real life terms yes... Again this maybe due to mixed and matched cant do dual channel and dual or tripple channel increase lots just as XMP ram has great improvement.

On topic of SSD I have had no issues with ocz drives or corsair or Kingston but have had issues with intel SSD Drives. Likely have over 30 deployed and have several in my home systems.

I didn't even think about that. That could be a problem.

OWC sells 16GB kits for most modern-ish macs (Air and Retina, excluded) for like $100. It's a no-brainer……unless, like me, you're lazy.

Officially its 6 Gigs - depends on your firmware

The matched Ram Pairs really only Matters in the real world if you are using an shared memory Integrated Graphics Card.
