Ableton Live 8 and KORG padKONTROL Press and hold pad?

Hi all,

I'm using the above setup and I need most of my sounds to play only when I am holding a pad down, and when I lift my finger, I want it to cut that pad's sound to off instantly.

Neither of the settings for pad release on the unit itself allow this, can anyone help me to do this or point me in the right direction?

Also I am a complete beginner, at the age of 29

I'm not ableton user but I have watched Mad Zach's tutorial video. As I remember correctly he managed to map this by holding down the button while disengaging MIDI learn option.

I found out I needed to select Gate from the Lauch menu. Thanks!
