    Default Recession vs. DJing

I know many people on djtt don't live in the United States, but I can speak with a degree of certainty when I say that the same economic strain that is hitting the US is hitting other countries as well.

And since people have less jobs, less money, etc. I'm just curious if people have been seeing fewer gigs, clubs closing, or anything like that?

It's pretty safe to say that the recession has made me a better musician and DJ because of all my free time thanks to being unemployed

Just curious what other people think.

a few clubs down in brighton have closed down, which kinda sucks. but then again, it means there will be some new ones opening soon.

This time last year I was on 4-6 regular nights a week, and turning work down, now I'm just doing Fri/Sat. I'm London based, and the clubs are so quiet at the moment (Commercial Nightclubs) even the weekends are taking a hit!

    Hope it turns around soon!

sounds like this is the time for a new genre to explode and reinvigorate the edm scene.

ed. if not now then hopefully in the next year or two

And what better place for this new genre to come from than DJTT? lol.

Some fresh music styles would be nice though, but I'm not sure it would be enough to persuade people to reach into their pockets that are already near empty to being with...

my friends clubs are dead, some are still happening but its just a question of time before they die out.

Keep this on the hush hush, but dive bars and small lounges are whats hitting right now. Here in L.A. people would rather skip the bottle service and door cover and use the money at the bar!

I had a residency for 6 months, then the club closed in June. Sucks because I was using that money to keep my music fresh. I've been down to 1 gig a month now.
