Making a playlist auto update?
So I use playlists to organize all my genres of music in Traktor. Each of those playlists corresponds to a folder on my hard drive. I hate that every time I add new music to one of those folders I have to delete the playlist and then re-import the folder to playlist just to get it to update. Is there anyway to get the playlist to auto update whenever Traktor opens?

Sadly not. What you're talking about is called 'smart playlists' and they're only available in iTunes and Serato products at the moment. I wish Traktor had them, along with Rekordbox.

Well if you use the iTunes integration then they will work. I use smart playlists for everything so my library organizes itself. Just put the track into iTunes and it shows up in genre lists, key lists, temp lists, etc without me doing anything at all.

Well I was able just drag and drop the folder into the playlist section of iTunes and it auto created a playlist based on that folder so that rocks! I did lose about 30 tracks out my 1440 so that does not rock...I wonder if they were just duplicates or if iTunes doesn't support flac it doesn't show those.
Thanks for the outside the box resolution!

Also after getting those smart playlists made in iTunes do I then need to open iTunes before running Traktor to get them to update the changes made to the root folder?

Well I just checked and an iTunes smart playlist cannot organize by file location. I think that would get a little crazy for it anyways.
Are you currently just organizing all your music manually in folders on your PC?

Precisely, I have a folder for Hip Hop, EDM etc, and that's what I want my playlists to be. I would just use the folders themselves in Traktor but I HATE how the damn folder has to auto update every time I open it. Updating 1400 tracks just means standing there for a minute or two until I'm able to find the track I want. It's quite annoying.
But after screwing around with smart playlists inside of iTunes, and then importing those playlists into Traktor, I've realized that both software loses tracks in the transition process. I even tried downloading a meta-data editor so I could edit all 1400 tracks that way to put a common denominator like EDM in the comment section to create a smart playlist in iTunes that way. But even that file editor couldn't find about 80 of my tracks. If I knew what songs they were I probably wouldn't even care but who knows which ones they are! LOL

That was an absolutely amazing tutorial! Thank you so much for taking the time to write all that out and even include the screenshots. I definitely think that that's the way I need to go from here on out. It definitely sounds time-consuming to set it up initially but like you said after you get it set up you're ready to rock. Thank you thank you thank you!
Just one last question though for you before I get all this going. So when you get to a gig and you first turn on your computer, do you open iTunes let iTunes sort all the new music then close iTunes and then open Traktor?
