I don't see how that can be true. Maschine is a far deeper more CPU hungry app than Traktor, and it can handle VST plugs easily while at the same time generating synths, drums, loops, samples etc...

All Traktor is doing is playing and layering tracks. Am I missing something?

    No I didn't.
The issues seems to be the same none-the-less.
Traktor still does not support VST, does it?

VST hosting is not as easy as it sounds in a deejaying scenario. Look at everything Traktor does. Now compare that to the minimum system requirements. The software is barely cutting it under the minimum requirements already (utilizing remix decks, sequencer, sample decks, fx, mix recorder, etc.).

Now let's look at the support aspect. You take a windows machine missing msvcr70.dll
Now you have a system issue where running legacy plugins (widebag for example) is not possible, but easily fixed. The customer will instead blame it on the software (Traktor) instead of looking into the root issue. You also will have a boat load of support tickets flooding the box for people having issues with third party plugins.

You could create a list of supported pugins, but now you are looking into licensing.

OK. Fair enough. But what about my Maschine comparison? Does Traktor really have that much more going on under the hood than Maschine?

Using Traktor as a plugin in Ableton would be fucking sick.
