Default Slicing a sample into a drumrack

when i slice a sample into a drum rack, the drum rack is extremely loud.

why does the sound get so distorted when slicing a sample into a drum rack?

Have you changed the velocity and/or volume, with the sample thats now in the drum rack, since its been in the drum rack?

Tell me if im teaching you to suck eggs, but double click the sample in the drum rack and on the far right hand side youll see volume and velocity. I always set my velocity to 75% and volume I think is defaulted at -6dB?! I dont touch this. You can also right click on the velocity section and apply it to the rest of your rack, to save you doing it individually.

Hey OP. I'm guessing you are choosing the infamous "SLICE TO NEW MIDI TRACK". There are multiple settings you can choose from. A few of these settings do compress and overdrive the audio bits (buzz&compress, ect.). Try going through the built in settings and if you dont find one you like then make your own rack and save it in LIBRARY/DEFAULTS/SLICING. There are multiple examples of how to do this online.
