Man, this a big fail on NI's part. Hope they get this sorted asap.

Not sure what your point is. Maybe you should just say it a little clearer.

Same here. I'm a big fan of NI gear and dont want this to feed the usual NI quality hatred.

I'm in consumer product design. Quantifying, specifying, controlling and testing of these things is HARD. What do you put on the specification to your faceplate supplier? A Z2 is not selling in the millions, so there's a limit to the testing and checking you can do as you need to sell it for a reasonable price (or in this case, at a price that will give you the best margin and you can still get away with).

Things like this happen and are a DISASTER if you are in R&D. You can't specify and design to perfection. You have only this much time and money to spend and at one point you need to sell and earn money.

If NI is anything like where I work. They hope AS MUCH as possible faceplates are returned, so they can send a new one and maybe a voucher or gadget to win the customer over again.

It's very likely that the faceplate manufacturer will pay most of the cost.

What bothers me more about th OP, is that the volume faders broke after 2 hours!

I think what he's saying (stay with me, here) is that something that was built in the 70's still has all of the graphics intact, despite being played with by the OP in the 70's, and now by his toddler.

OR - build quality was better in the 70's was better for a Fisher Price TOY than it is for NI (ahem) PRO Audio gear in the 10's...

Ah, well, when you set the pointer to a sheep, and pull the cord, you'll hear "A sheep says baa-aa"...

Nope, but you can circuit bend most Fischer Price stuff.

Then if you swap out circuit for pitch.....you have pitch bend.

Then...you can ride the pitch around the bend, while saying BAAAA....at this time you hold onto the loop at the end of the string and give it a little tug every 3rd beat. That then makes it gate.

If you hold onto the string, letting it go in slowly....thats the Stretch Effect.

Smash it on the ground...and you have the Hawtin Effect.

    Who needs a Z2????
