Best Midi Controller/Producing setup

    Default Best Midi Controller/Producing setup

    Hey so i am just getting into producing Progressive house/electronic/dance i have about $500 - $1000 to get into it, what do you think my best setup would be. please help and and give me the total of your opinion. Thanks.

    Ps. I already have a macbook pro

    do you already have software or is that included in your budget numbers?

    Right now you can still get Ableton 8 for $337 ($524 for Suite 8) and you get a free upgrade to 9 when its released. You could get live 8 standard with the new Ableton Push controller for just under the top of your budget, but if it were me, I'd probably wait for this to come out http://us.novationmusic.com/midi-controllers/launchkey

    Just get the software don't even think about getting a controller until you know the software inside out.

    25 key keyboard is pretty useful off the bat in my opinion.

    Assuming you do not already have nice monitor speakers or headphones, I would say get that + ableton + a conservative midi controller that fits your work flow. That may call for a keyboard, a maschine, whatever it is.
