    Default Turntable setup

Hi, just looking for some advice on my first turntable setup.

Currently I'm just looking at getting one turntable to listen to vinyls, but I'm probably going to end up getting a second when I've actually got enough vinyl to mix with. I'm just a little confused as to what set up I should go for. I'm pretty limited on cash for the full set up (max £600), and from what I can tell the traditional set up of a turntable, pre amp, amp and passive speakers is out of my price range. I'm considering just getting active speakers and a turntable, seen as the turntable (Audio-technica Sl1200 copy) already has a pre-amp built in. However I've heard the internal pre amp in these isn't of the best quality. Plus, I could use active speakers to plug in to my controller too.

What I'm basically asking is, will the Active set up be good in terms of sound quality, or will I See a difference with a amp setup? Sorry if this comes across as stupid but I've not really had a definite answer from anyone as of yet.

    Cheers
    Alex

Best bet is to buy two second hand technics 1210/1200 you can grab them on ebay with a mixer for around £450 as to the active vs amp prob better go with active and it all really depends on price the more you pay the better quality the speakers will be
