If I didnt overdose on soft synths at Christmas, i would certainly be picking up Iris http://www.izotope.com/products/audio/iris/

In the manufacturers words: Iris is an innovative sampling re-synthesizer that frees you to create sounds that could never before be produced.

FX: Anything by Vahalla DSP, Room or vintageverb are pretty good.

Synths: U-he DIVA, Harmor by IL, Razor by NI, AALTO by madrona labs.

And does anyone know if there is a standalone version of NI razor? I have to run mine through Reaktor first which takes up quite a lot of CPU

Pretty sure you have to run through Reaktor.

There's no way! You have to be doing something weird. It ran fine on my old laptop with 2gb of ram, and on my new MBP Retina it runs amazingly well!
