Default Make Arcade Controller from PC Keyboard

Hi, I was searching for a cheap solution to build a midi controller and I tried to open a pc keyboard to understand how it works.

It seems that is easy to make the arcade buttons work using the controller of the keyboard, and since traktor allows mapping keyboard keys to everything we are good.

Now I have 2 questions for you:

1 - Are you aware of any latency problems with pc keyboard? Witch have least latency, pc keyboard or midi?

2 - I would like to put some endless dented knobs in the controller too. Do you know how they work? May be possible to assign the turning of the knob in one direction to a key and the other direction to other key?

    Thank you

Here is a little schematic that converts the encoder output to pulses, one output for clockwise rotation the other for counter clock wise, this could easily be connected to a keyboard or any form of mod gear.

There was another schematic that i found once using a schmitt trigger but I'm still on the hunt for that one, this one however uses a DIL D type flipflop at a cost of less than $1

And as far as making your own jog wheels you can't really go past this

It will require a set of those for each enconder right?

by the way, I don't need jog wheels

Yep a set for each encoder, although its just one IC on a piece of vero board so relatively cheap and easy.
