    Default Additional MIDI control

    Hey all,

I'm looking to complement my Kontrol S2 with another MIDI controller. Primarily, I'd like to be able to map cue points 1 -8 as well as have more dedicated controls for effect banks. Basically, it has to have a good balance of knobs and pads! Something along the lines of Akai's MPD26, but even that seems a bit overkill.

Any thoughts or experience on which controller would fit the bill?

A Kontrol X1 or F1 doesn't fit the bill for ya?

Yeah I was looking at the X1, and it definitely looks like it would work well. $200 for a few buttons and knobs seems a little hard to justify, though, lol. So I figured I'd do a bit more research before pulling the trigger on anything.

I was in exactly the same position and got an F1. Been a great but, and also let's you play around with the remix decks. If you buy 2nd hand, if you don't like it, you could sell it for the Same no worries.

X1 seems foot though, and lpd8 seems great value for money

So on the X1, do you (or can you) assign the FX banks to a deck on the fly? ...similar to how it's done on the standard S2 configuration (by pressing A or B under the gain knob)? Or is it more of a permanent setting?

Im assuming no one takes the time to Map their own controllers anymore.. The big draw is the one to one mapping marketing slogan. Lazy bastards

One a side note, programming your own controller makes it that much better IMO.. You know its ins and outs, its special little quirks you added etc.

If 200 bucks is alot for a controller id save up a bit more. Im not really partial to bank switching, but who knows you may be
