Default Slight confusion over Beatgrids & Sync

I think i'm the only one who does not know this.

Won't Sync keep your tracks beatmatched without the need to Beatgrid?

What is the difference between the two?

(i have read some of the manual, lol)

Automatic beat detection (in any program) is far from an exact science, computers cant detect with as much precision as a human where the beats are and the tempo of the track.

Because of this you need to lay down your own beatgrids to get an effective sync

A beatgrid basically tell the software where exactly all the beats start so when you press sync it knows what tempo to adjust the deck to and as well as to get the phase of the beats correct.

Id recommend finishing reading the manual

    hey

yeah just as Bento says, both work together. It needs the beatgrid to try and recognize where the beats are then it uses that info to sync.

Also check out the excellent tutorial Traktor Bible did:

I just found this and it clears a lot of things up. I used to just grid by ear but this sheds some light on things I wasnt even aware of. (makes a lot of sense)
