    Default traktor vs serato

Ive got a friend who is looking to get traktor or serato and asked me which one is better or what are the differences between the two. I tried looking for a comparison sheet online but could not find anything. I use traktor but never used serato, so I cant really tell him the differences or which one is better. He would like to control the software with cd decks/mixer. So any info or a link to a comparison sheet would be appreciated.

    thanks

I take it your from L.A. and when it comes to digital dj-ing Serato is King.

Serato Used as club standard (atleast in my neck of the hood)
Plug & Play (1 usb cable)
No messing with the house/club mixer or setup

I love traktor 3 to death, but Im leaning towards going the serato route or playing on CDJ-1000 (most places I play have these already)

I started on traktor but since I got the sl3 I've been loving it ever since.... just my 2 cents... both are powerful apps... but serato is changing the game..... ableton is coming... I can't wait ....damn just imagine with ableton being incorporated to serato.... does this mean a dj groovebox app...????

just out of curiosity what can serato do that traktor cannot? Apart from the fact it has a sampler.

Whereas Traktor has a short 4 beat sampler, and 4 decks, two of which can be used as ad hoc samplers.
    It's the FAQ. Read it.

Serato is for someone who really wants to have the simplest cleanest layout to spin 2-3 decks! No fancy stuff, just total integration with Itunes with covers...
It's super simple, clean and light on the CPU ... It only works with the box attached... the new Sl3 should sound just as good as Audio 8/4/2 DJ (the original no so good sound).
Now it also has Midi but I can say 4 sure how intense and or easy it is to setup ... should be simple though.

TK is the way for intricate stuff Loops/ Efxs/ 4 decks/ Midi Control ... on the other hand it's lots more CPU demanding and complex...

I think this kinda sums the just of it ...

    Serato - "Standard" BeatMixing/ scratching

Traktor - DJs that want to take they're Djing to a different level.

    No Pun intended.

here's a couple threads from our forums and if you do a generic google search there are a bunch of other site's with threads on the topic:

    http://www.djtechtools.com/forum/sho...traktor+serato

    http://www.djtechtools.com/forum/sho...traktor+serato

    http://www.djtechtools.com/forum/sho...traktor+serato

    http://www.google.com/search?q=trakt...ient=firefox-a

    good luck.
We don't believe in the star system. We want the focus to be on the music. If we have to create an image, it must be an artificial image. That combination hides our physicality and also shows our view of the star system. It is not a compromise-daftpunk
