    I guess I'd not just be thinking of TP2 ... If I'm dropping $700 on any gear I want to know it'll at least handle the next release, if not the release after that as well.

    My 5 year old macbook handles Ableton 8 + TP2 no problems, but its starting to show its age occasionally especially when compared to a newer i5 with SSD.

    Just buy as fast a Macbook as you can, preferably "i" series with the best/worst resolution you can tolerate and don't by a macbook air unless its late 2011 at least because before then they were very VERY slow.

    My 2010 runs like a champ, it's the highest speed chip at the time 8gb of RAM, nvidia graphics. I wouldn't go past that personally
