Default Would you buy a Technics 1200 MK5 Gold turntable for $700??

Hey lads. I just got back from a second hand store down the way and saw a limited edition, gold MK5 for $700! I know it's loads of money but I think they may be a collectors' item and will hold value (or increase) in the future. What should I do?

That's about the cost for a regular old used pair around here, and about half the cost of time-machine (new in box) mk5g in New York http://turntablelab.com/collections/...0m5g-turntable.

That's not that much. Go for it if it is what you want.

    Er yeah!
It's not the gear. It's how you use it.

I think ANYTHING gold looks tacky. I just don't like the colour.
Aesthetically I don't think you can beat a standard 1210.

Whatever floats ya boat though dude. I certainly understand the 'desire' when it grabs you.

I would buy it to resell since they are pretty hideous. You can prob get a bit more for it on ebay though. edit: prices may be different in japan and not worth quite as much there, no idea.

I love them. A pair of black and golds would be part of my dream setup!
