Default Ion Audio DISCOVER DJ - why do i like this??

saw this on skratchworx... the Ion Audio DISCOVER DJ

i don't know why i like it... if mapping worked out (and was super cheap), it seems like it would be a great lightweight/portable basic controller...

Would be nice if there was some info about the dimensions of the device

Hmmm if this is cheap enough it might work out for the jogwheels for the set up I am trying to buy to transition to. Looking to get 2 akai mpd24's and a korg zero 4 but am worried about not having jog wheels.

Soooo... i finally saw this at a Target store.... only one store in my area had any... when i got there, they had 2 on the shelf...

I almost bought it... until i scanned the upc.... $130! no way was I going to pay that, when i can get on online for under $100...

anyways, I just got home, and downloaded a demo of the mixvibes cross software that the unit comes with...

not very pleased with the software.... I need a sharp cut in on the the x-fader, and i haven't yet found the option to adjust the cut contour (went through the manual, mv forum, google)**... I was also not impressed by the interface...

for me, i would hope that the unit spits out standard MIDI commands for Traktor, but, I'm unsure if I want to find out for $100 (plus i'm unsure if I'd be able to return it, as the box contains software)...

skratchworx says that the platters are awesome... http://www.skratchworx.com/news3/comments.php?id=1318

** NOTE - according to the Mixvibes forum, you can adjust the x-fade curve but there's a catch:
    http://forum.mixvibes.com/viewtopic....r+curve#p62952
this is already featured in mix vibes.
but it is not adjustable over the gui.
you must mapped the command on the keyboard or a midi button
one problem - Cross LE doesn't support MIDI mapping... so i would have to spend another $100 in their webshop for the upgrade to Cross.

At 5m:30s you see this guy talk a bit about his newly purchased Discover DJ unit.

Person measuring the unit (seems to be about 19" x 9")

On the djay and VDJ fourms, it looks like the unit spits out some type of MIDI message...
