the only audio effect i pretty much use for bass and kicks is the eq eight. is there anything else that can give a lot of different tones to a bass loop

There is no rule for music you can use any fx you want on any sound you want. Dont say this fx is for bass or this for lead with this kind of approach you loose a lot of creativity in your live set and productions.

Chorus, Reverb, Delay whatever you want to do pretty much but I would just suggest whatever effect you do, let it highpass anything below 200Hz ish so it doesnt muddy up and eat your headroom down in low end.
