Firmware upgrade questions basic but important????

After finally finding a computer with a serial port, this will get harder every year, I have had a go at upgrading the firmware. Firstly Ean, please update your video. Why say it is strongly advised to use a serial to serial conect, but show a USB conection??

I followed the video step by step only to realise it isn't as difficult as it seems. However if using a serial to serial connection - you need to power the unit - doh, where is that in the step by step video?

Questions

What postion does the power switch need to be when finished, right, middle or does it not matter??

All the instructions say it needs to be undertaken on a PC, why when I downloaded the file was there a Mac file option? I use a mac to run Traktor, should I have used the Mac file or the PC file which I chose.??

the TSI files are cross compatible but the firmware program can only be run on a windows machine.

Thanks for your prompt reply and changes to the video. I wasn't sure about the files because the firmware upgrape files had two options mac (in a folder) and pc, I didn't mean the TSI files.

How can I tell if I successfully upgraded?

After the program has finished flashing your vci it will say at the bottom that it has successfully upgraded the unit
mine took around 14 seconds to upgrade

Thanks for that. I would still like to know why the firmware update files have a MACOSX folder and file, and two other firmware 3 files, same file name but different sizes. Which is the correct one, or does it not matter? If not can Ean just give us the one file to avoid what for me is confusion.

The same file(s) still come up even using the link you sent, that is a MACOSX folder and two additional files, a macosx AND vci-100SE file (three items). I know how to find the files and have completed the upgrade! My question is why are there three firmware 3files and is there any difference between them. DJTT perhaps you could answer that question?????
