Decribe what EDM is to you

Ok so there is loads of confusion around this thing called 'EDM' which is short for 'electronic dance music' I do believe. The confusion comes from what music is classed as 'EDM'. Some say it is any genre of dance music but to me, I don't think it is. When I think of EDM I think of things like electro house, commercial dance music, obscene dubstep. Artists like Knife party or skrillex fit the bill quite well!

However I don't believe that things like deep house or techno for example comes under the phrase EDM. yes it is dance music however it's a more underground scene. It's a completely different circle of people than what I would class as EDM fans. Does anyone else agree?

I've been told that my latest mix is classed as EDM but I wouldn't class it as that at all

I use it to describe mainstream electronic music. Think the Electronic Top 40.

I take it to mean the person using it has no idea what they're talking about. Or possibly they know what they're talking about, but neither I nor anyone else have a clue what they're talking about, because they've used the term EDM. Either way, it's bad
